Kanye Announces His G.O.O.D. Fridays Plans Posted On: 08.23.2010
Kanye West was shacked up for quite some time after the whole drunken VMA debacle, but instead of writing a slew of different apology letters, it seems like he may have been working on music this entire time. Yesterday he announced via Twitter that he'd be releasing a new track every week until the holidays arrive. This new project is called "G.O.O.D. Fridays," seeing as the tracks will be released each Friday of the week.

"I know y'all need the music so I'm dropping 1 new song every weekend until Xmas," he wrote via Twitter. "It may be my song, it may be a new Jay song, etc...We look at the game completely different now...it's about the fans. No more holding back. That's why I dropped 'See Me Now'...it wasn't about me, it was about the Summer the BBQs etc." - ClubPlanet.com

Deadmau5 is Alive, Well & Coming Back for More Posted On: 08.10.2010
Deadmau5 is alive! Not that you were assuming otherwise, but after Joel Zimmerman aka Deadmau5 collapsed on August 5th while performing at Washington DC’s 9:30 Club, suffering vomiting and exhaustion, fans were definitely concerned for the mau5. But this mau5 is mighty, and after canceling nine shows across the pond, he is ready to get back on stage and do what he does best: rock the crowd with brain-melting beats.

Deadmau5 is continuing his American tour this fall and planning on sweeping across the nation one nightclub at a time. Catch Deadmau5 in Atlanta on October 1st before he heads west to Denver on October 6th, to Seattle October 13th, and back east to New York City for a three-day run at Roseland Ballroom. With all these dates planned it’s hard not to wonder how Deadmau5 will stay healthy and properly rested, but if there is one thing we have learned from the fallen mouse it’s how to dust yourself off and get back to the DJ booth again, and again, and again. - ClubPlanet.com
Lil Wayne to Release Music from Prison Posted On: 07.19.2010
Lil Wayne is definitely one, if not the hardest working man in show business. But, what happens when you’re taken away from your 24-hour music studio and put into a 6x6 prison cell? Well, it seems as though it’s not that different for the hip-hop superstar from New Orleans. He’s set to release an EP called, I’m Not a Human Being, on September 27th. In a recent interview his manager, Cortez Bryant, answered some questions about the EP. “I’m putting out a [Wayne] album called I’m Not A Human Being and I’ll probably drop it on his birthday, September 27,” Bryant said. He also mentioned that this release will include all-new songs and preview some tracks off of Wayne’s highly anticipated next album, The Carter IV. - Clubplanet.com
Eminem Colaborates with Pink Posted On: 06.28.2010
In what could be one of the biggest collaborations between the pop world and hip-hop, Eminem brought on Pink so she could lend her pipes to one of the bigger tracks on his album Recovery, titled “Won’t Back Down.” These are both outspoken artists who have definitely honed their craft, and it’s a musical match made in heaven. According to DJ Khalil, it was Em’s idea to bring on the pop star, and once they set up the session in Malibu, it only took her 20 minutes to get the job done. DJ Khalil also said that the track immediately had his stamp of approval. “She nailed it in her way,” DJ Khalil said in a recent interview. “I was kind of married to the original, but once I heard what she did… it was like perfect, 'cause she just brought the attitude out.” - ClubPlanet.com
Kanye West Takes The Stage with Jay-Z at Isle of Wight Festival Posted On: 06.14.2010
We haven’t seen Kanye West take the stage in quite some time. Actually, the last time he took to a prominent stage, he was booed off (Taylor Swift incident). Looks like his publicist has him playing the hiding game, but it’s actually playing in his favor. His fans and haters are anxiously awaiting his return, and he recently took to the stage for the first time in quite a while this pasty weekend. Jay-Z brought out Kanye as a surprise guest during his set at the Isle of Wight Festival. Once Kaye came out the crowd went wild, and it seems as though they’ve certainly forgotten about his little stage antics at the VMA’s. We certainly don’t care for that anymore and are definitely excited about his next release.

T.I. Collaborates with GaGa on New Album Posted On: 06.01.2010
When an artist becomes a big name, continuously releasing club bangers and topping the charts, it becomes a challenge to continuously outdo his or her last hit. The easiest way to do this, however, is to collaborate with someone equally as talented, someone more talented, or in this case, the reigning queen of pop and perhaps the most talented star to emerge in this decade.

Yup, that’s right – we’re talking about Lady GaGa. T.I. has brought in the queen of the game to help him out on a track for his upcoming album, King Uncaged, and while the rapper has recorded nearly 80 songs with artists such as Eminem, Kid Rock and Keri Hilson, this is the only collaboration that is sure to score a spot on the album. (Really though, as if anyone could cut out a collaboration with the Fame Monster herself).

When asked what it was like to work with this unparalleled diva, T.I. responds: “Phenomenal talent. Extremely proud [to work with her]. She’s definitely that good. She knows what she’s doing. She knows exactly what she wants people to think and say. She does everything that she needs to be done to ensure it happens. I think she’s an entertainer, in all aspects of the word.”

Nice work, T.I. We can’t wait to hear this one!

Cypress Hill, Pitbull Cancel Arizona Concerts Posted On: 05.22.2010
Arizona has definitely been in the news lately, and this time it’s not for their sports, but rather for their politics. Their new tough stance on immigration enforcement isn’t scheduled to take effect until late July, but it’s been a hot topic nationally. Many are protesting, including notables like the Phoenix Suns, but now musicians are also making it known that they’re not happy. Recently, Pitbull and Cypress Hill, among other musicians, have canceled their concerts in the state in protest of the new laws. Local authorities will now be able to determine a person’s immigration status is they are suspected of being undocumented. We think they should still take the stage, and let everyone in the state how they really feel. If the people are riled up to come together, nothing will happen.
Rock band Godsmack, rapper Eminem lead U.S. charts Posted On: 05.12.2010
REUTERS:

LOS ANGELES (Billboard) – Hard rock band Godsmack notched its third consecutive No. 1 on the U.S. pop album chart Wednesday, while Eminem is on track to lead the Hot 100 singles chart with his new tune "Not Afraid."

Godsmack's "Oracle" sold 117,000 copies during the week ended May 9, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Previously the band hit the top with 2006's "IV" (211,000 units) and 2003's "Faceless" (267,000).

Last week's No. 1, Atlanta rapper B.o.B's "The Adventures of Bobby Ray" slid to No. 12 with 36,000. It's the first album to fall from No. 1 to out of the top 10 since last November when John Mayer's "Battle Studies" tumbled to No. 13 in its second week.

Country trio Lady Antebellum's "Need You Now" held at No. 2 with 97,000. MercyMe's "The Generous Mr. Lovewell" debuted at No. 3 with 88,000, new highs for the Christian band in terms of both rank and sales.

Carole King and James Taylor came in at No. 4 with "Live at the Troubadour," which sold 78,000. Taylor last reached the top 10 with "Covers" in 2008, while King's last visit was in 1976 when "Thoroughbred" reached No. 3.

Canadian teen idol Justin Bieber's former chart-topper "My World 2.0" slipped one to No. 5 with 64,000.

Over on the Hot 100, which will be officially released on Thursday, Eminem's "Not Afraid" will become just the 16th tune to debut at No. 1 in the chart's 52-year history. The previous No. 1 bow was Britney Spears' "3" last October.

Released digitally last Monday, just four days after its radio premiere, "Not Afraid" sold about 379,000 downloads -- the best sales week for a single this calendar year.

The lead single from Eminem's new album "Recovery," due out on June 22, it marks the rapper's third chart-topper. He first led the list for 12 weeks with "Lose Yourself" in 2002-03 and made an impressive 78-1 jump with "Crack A Bottle," along with Dr. Dre and 50 Cent last February.

Back on the albums chart, California rock band the Deftones debuted at No. 6 with "Diamond Eyes" (62,000). It's the fourth top 10 album for the act, which last charted with "Saturday Night Wrist" in 2006 (No. 10 with a 76,000 start).

The Dixie Chicks' Emily Robison and Martie Maguire bowed at No. 7 with the self-titled debut album from the sisters' new side project Court Yard Hounds (61,000).

AC/DC's "Iron Man 2" set fell three places to No. 8 with 55,000. Toni Braxton's "Pulse" registered at No. 9 with 54,000; her previous album, "Libra," debuted and peaked at No. 4 in 2005 with 114,000. Usher's "Raymond v Raymond" fell four to No. 10 with 51,000.

Overall album sales totaled 6.07 million units, up 11% from the previous week, but down 7% compared to the comparable sales week of 2009. Year-to-date sales stand at 109.7 million, down 10% compared to the same total at this point last year.
B.o.B Tops The Hot 100 Posted On: 05.04.2010
There’s nothing like a fresh and unique voice in hip-hop, and that’s what we’re all getting right now with B.o.B. He hasn’t been in the game all that long, but he’s already topping the Billboard Hot 100 with his hit single, “Nothin’ on You,” featuring Bruno Mars. But not only is his single coming in at No. 1, his collaboration with Paramore vocalist Haley Williams, “Airplanes,” comes in at No. 9. His debut album drops on Monday, so be on the lookout for The Adventures of Bobby Ray, because it looks like he’s going to be in the news a lot more after that’s released. - ClubPlanet.com
